Trendy Short Hairstyles to Rock In 2017

Back then, people believed that short hairstyles did not offer us much freedom and variety.
Today, the versatility of short hairstyles has become so impressive, especially those stunning styles for African women, whose hair is naturally thick and dense than their counterparts from other continents.
Some of us simply start blooming with short hairstyles, while longer hair makes us look ordinary.
The fact is, practically every woman has once dared to try a chin length or shorter haircut.
To wear short hair in the previous century was rather a sign of manliness. Today short female hairstyles look very feminine and sexy.
A beautiful short hairstyle begins with the correct choice of a short haircut, optimal for you. Short hairstyles tend to highlight the shape of your face and your facial features, especially your eyes so it wouldn’t be appropriate to claim that short hairstyles suit everyone.
However, if you have beautiful, healthy skin and an oval shaped face, you will be gorgeous with literally any short hairstyle, starting from an extremely short pixie to a chin-length bob.
Also, if you know you have something to conceal, you should be more exact about the choice of the right short haircut.
If the shape of your face is not as perfect as you’d like, you can still correct it with a short hairstyle.
If you have a round face, you will benefit from hairstyles with the volume on top and thinned sides.
If you have an oblong face, you require volume on the sides (waves work very well) and long bangs, blunt cut or slanting.
If you are looking for short hairstyles to do, check the photos below.

To add a little femininity to your look, you should tailor your jumpsuit in a way that it will define your waist; this adds a little more femininity and sex appeal and helps avoid the funny oblong butt look that happens on loose and slouchy jumpsuits.
Ankara wears are pretty cool and fabulous but you should go for a more feminine African print especially if you have a masculine silhouette. This print will soften your look.

Many people are going natural and loving it. Here are a few tips to having great natural hair, they are also useful to everyone who is growing her hair; natural or not.1.Eat wellA healthy diet is a key to beautiful hair. Include proteins and vitamin A rich foods in your diet. Vitamin A promotes hair growth and foods containing vitamin A include green leafy vegetables, carrots. Also consume fruits, vegetables, vitamin C, zinc, iron and healthy fats e.g. olive oil.2.Drink lots of waterDrink 8 – 12 glasses of water per day for healthy hair. Water helps the body to flush out toxins faster. Drinking lots of water will make your body feel better as well as help your hair get strong.3.Stay away from harsh chemicalsUse of harsh chemicals will spoil your hair in the long run, so it is advisable to use them rarely or avoid them altogether. Instead, use natural hair products such as aloe vera gel and coconut oil.4.Avoid heat stylingAvoid frequent use of flat iron and blow dryer. Healthy Snacking: Benefits And Ideas

Do we have anyone with the notion that snacking debars weight management progress in the house today? Whoops! I guess it’s time for a rethink.
Weight loss isn’t about deprivation, you know. If you ask me, healthy snacking should be as mandatory as breakfast. You know why? When done right (in moderation with healthy choices), snacking isn’t “bad” as assumed. In fact, snacks give your body the fuel it needs in-between meals. Snacks help meet most of your nutritional needs. They also help curb hunger, so you don’t overeat at mealtimes.
Comprising the right ratio of nutrients and the right calories, snacks will keep your body energized; your metabolism revved up, and optimally aid you in reaching your weight loss goals. Protein for instance plus the right kinds of exercise stimulates the growth of lean muscle mass, which boosts metabolic rate and promotes calorie burn. For improved digestion, fibre is most necessary and will keep you from binging on fats and sugars.
What to do? Make smart, healthy choices of foods with the right nutrient, not more than 150 – 200 calories.  Here are some nutrient-rich ideas you could try.
Kale is an incredible source of vitamins K, A, and C. Consuming it chip style could become your new go-to late-afternoon snack. Simply place one large bunch raw kale leaves (stems removed) on a cookie sheet, then drizzle with one teaspoon olive oil and a pinch of salt. Cook for about 10 – 12 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius) until crispy. You just got yourself some delicious Krispy Kale Chips to munch on without guilt!
For healthy fats, always have Avocados around. They’re fibre-rich and quite filling as snacks. They also make an excellent source of heart-healthy and belly fat-blasting monounsaturated fat. In need of a refreshing treat to beat the afternoon heat? Make some creamy Greek Yoghurt and Avocado Popsicle ahead to suck on. Combine mashed avocado with some Greek yoghurt, pour into popsicle moulds and simply freeze overnight. Easy, isn’t it?
Looking to nibble on something that feels a bit indulgent? Then look no further than Dark Chocolates. Do you know that Dark chocolate has been linked to reduced heart disease risk and even lower body fat significantly in people who nibble on it more? With about 60% cocoa content, the polyphenol antioxidants in dark chocolates may favourably influence your metabolism – thus working your body to burn off those fats while you snack.
Need more convenient options? Home-made low-calorie granola bars, sugar-free popcorn, hard-boiled egg, nuts (walnuts, almonds, and peanuts), low-fat milk/yoghurt, low-fat or fat-free cheese, baked apples, tomatoes, and fruits like berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries), cucumber, grapefruits, bananas, grapes, carrots, make the list too. And don’t forget to indulge lavishly in sips of water.
So there you go snackaholics, some guilt-free nibbles at thy feet!

Weight Loss Trends To Watch Out For In 2017

It is a New Year again and I know quite a number of us have listed ‘Weight loss’ as part of our 2017 resolutions. I was interested in weight loss when I was desperate to lose my post baby bod and even now after losing it I still keep a close eye on the happening trends in weight loss in case I ever need to lose weight.
Like a lot of people, I’m overwhelmed with the number of options out there and I always have to do a whole lot of research once I hear of another weight loss trend.
In this light, I have compiled a list of the trending weight loss options at this moment. I know in the next few months there will be newer options.
1. Ketogenic lifestyle

It is a low carb diet meaning that you avoid eating grains, starchy foods, and sugary foods and instead eat healthy fats. To know more about keto, request to join their Facebook page: Ketogenic lifestyle.
2. Slim tea
I know you have heard of slim tea as it is all the rage at the moment on Instagram, with people who have used it giving positive reviews.
3. Meal plan
I personally like the meal plan weight loss idea as it preaches a healthy eating lifestyle. There are many meal plan options available depending on who you contact.
In my own opinion (I am not a doctor o!), eating healthy and exercising is the best way to lose weight. Do you disagree? Or do you know any other weight loss options that were not mentioned, leave them in the comment section, I will be reading!

Fashion trend: Turban

I think I am the only one I know that doesn’t yet have a turban. Is it because I prefer to flaunt my hair or just because I don’t even know where to get one?
Sometime last year (I can’t remember precisely when), I started noticing the turban trend everywhere.
A lot of people are into the turban because it is versatile, you could wear it when you need to cover your hair (such as to a religious organization) or just wear it to add a little flair to your outfit. I love the turban especially since I realised you can wear it with any outfit and to any event if styled properly and with the right accessories.
I also love the fact that it could come plain or accessorized and that it is ready to wear. Its makers embellish turbans in either of these five ways: they can be embellished with stones, with beads, with embroidery, with brooches or with white pearls.
My favourite though is the turban embellished with brooches, it is just beautiful.
There are many videos on YouTube showing how to tie a turban properly; you should check them out for more inspiration.
Since the turban is available in many colours and designs, you might consider styling your turban these 3 ways or really in any way that suits you.

Plain turban with outfit
Monochrome – I love the monochrome look, so this is my best way to style a turban

I think I have said enough to convince you to go get yours if you haven’t already.
As for me, I am going out now to scout for turbans; I must get one today!!

Using Blush the Right Way

I know a lot of people who don’t like to use blush because they don’t know how to apply it properly. Here is a guide to using blush the right way.
1.Choose your blush type
There are three basic types of blush to choose from; cream, powder, and gel
To apply cream blush;
(a) Prep your skin with foundation
(b) Apply cream blush in an upward motion
(c )Blend into the skin
(d)Set your face with setting powder
To apply powder blush;
(a)Prep skin with foundation
(b)Set face with powder
(c)Apply blush up and towards hairline
(d)Blend the blush and apply setting powder to set
2.Buy a Quality blush brush
You will need to purchase a quality blush brush not just any makeup brush
3.Stay in a well-lit place
Makeup is best done in a well-lit place, so when applying your blush ensure you are in a well-lit place.
4.Prep your face
Before you apply blush prepare your face. Wash and moisturize your face, apply foundation and every other makeup product then apply your blush.
5.Put on your blush last
Apply your blush little by little; it is easier to build on your blush than to take it off if it’s too much. To apply your blush do a fish face, this will make your apple cheeks easier to find.
If you apply too much blush blend it out with your powder, this will tame the colour.
Dust your face with translucent powder to get your look.

Hairstyles For Different Face Styles

Image via sheknows.com
Today’s write up is about choosing the right hairstyle for your face shape. Now I am sure sometimes you have passed by someone and thought her hair didn’t fit her. It is probably because she doesn’t know the right style for her face shape. Here is a guide to choosing the right hairstyles.
First, you need to determine your face shape and then read on.
To determine your face shape, take a good look in the mirror noting your chin, cheekbone and forehead sizes.
Oval face
The Oval face shape is sometimes called the epitome of feminine perfection as basically all styles fit this face type. The forehead of this shape is slightly larger than the chin. You could try different styles ranging from curly to straight hair to bangs.
Round shape
This is defined with prominent rounded cheeks with equal width and length of the face.
You will want to choose styles that slim down the face, so avoid curls and instead choose straight styles with medium to long length.
Square shape
The square face shape is masculine with a prominent jaw and square chin. Side bangs, side parts, and long hair are great for this face shape.
Heart shape
This face shape is characterized by a wider forehead and cheekbones and a narrow jaw line and chin. People with this face type should try bob styles (both short and long), wavy curls and soft curls.
You might have noticed I did not make mention of braids, this is because it typically fit all face types.
